In this article, you can learn how to enable SSL in your shop from the PrestaShop back office. SSL will help to protect your and your customer’s data, so as a responsible merchant it is an absolute must four your store.
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers.info.ssl.com
Enable SSL for your PrestaShop
First, log in to your shop’s back office. Then, choose Preferences -> General from the sidebar on the left.
To enable SSL you have to first select Please click here to check if your shop supports HTTPS. If the test succeeds, you will now have a YES/NO button availabe.
You can now secure the customer login and the backoffice login by selecting YES on Enable SSL.
Next you can enable SSL on all pages by selecting YES on Enable SSL on all pages.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and hit the SAVE button.
When reloading your page, it might happen that some of your links (or all of them) don’t work. In that case you can recreate your .htaccess file to fix that error. Wait what? No, its easier than you think.
Go to Parameters -> Traffic & SEO and scroll to the block SET SHOP URL. Deactivate Friendly URL, save, Activate Friendly URL again, save and reaload your page. PrestaShop will automatically recreate your .htaccess file and the links should now work.
